Vinted Users Express Anger Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
