The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device

Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
